This is Where I Stopped to Rest

“This is Where I Stopped to Rest” (2016) 57″x57″x7″, cotton, poly/blends, foam.

While this new quilt obviously contains no photography, it is partly inspired by a Kodachrome slide my mother shot while on a cross country vacation decades ago. The title is taken from her handwriting on its cardboard frame. The repetitive form is derived from a past experimental project and my endless love of simple daily views of forestry near my home-studio.

Partial side view.

The trees are talking and your extended absence is of prime concern. When are you returning to the forest?
